Now I am definitely not saying that the above quotes are wrong.  In fact I totally agree with them. It's true that habits are what pays off finally.

We actually get motivated momentarily when we read or listen to quotes like this, that we could literally feel the blood rushing in your veins. We start working on our habits to become great and successful in life.

But why do you think only a few people are getting paid when we all start working?!

Here's why-

Habits actually pay you off for your work both quantitatively and qualitatively. Because the more you quantity you do the more quality you get since long time working leads to automation and we can improve our quality also with the left over energy from automation.

We can stratify people based on their interaction with habits.

The first strata people are those who are perishably motivated. Their motivation is like charging a mobile or any electronic device. It would stop working once the energy is drained. Similarly people stop working once their external motivation is perished and they spring back to thier old self.

The second strata are the people who gets motivated and also work. Unlike the first strata, they work with internal motivation. But they drop after sometime the first strata drop off, not because they don't work but because they are not patient enough.

The thing about working with habits is they're lazy employers. They start paying off after a long time since you started working.

But they are also the smart bosses, who watch your performance, record and analyze it. And finally they would pay you with biggest check ever. We'll only if you wait until then. But people are impatient and don't trust the process enough to stay until they get paid off. They want immediate results which is against the rule.

The third strata are the actors of the habits company. They do work daily and also for a long time, long enough to get paid by habits.

But, alas they don't get paid either. Because they just don't do it consciously. They don't concentrate on what they are doing, the direction they are moving, where they need to change their direction. They just go on like some programmed machines without a motive.

The most saddest thing is that they can't even understand that they are running in circles.

Lastly, here comes the best employees of habits. They are conscious enough to question the process, analyze and change it. They are patient enough to work until they get paid off by the habits and definitely they are driven by non perishable motivation and driven by passion.

So the few people who get paid off by habits are the one who work consciously and consistently until they get paid off, and are driven by passion.
