Have you ever wanted to tell someone taht you are crazy about them or maybe confront them about something that bothered you but you were unable to say it. You may have thought of million things but when you opened your mouth nothing came out. Why do you think thais happens? Why are we unable to express ourselves in front of our partner?
The most common answer you will get is fear. Fear of being judged, fear of not being unreciprocated, fear of misunderstood, fear of abandonment and the list goes on. Being vulnerable is not easy we are basically putting ourselves out there without the armour we were told to put on in situations where we are bare and unprotected.
How does this fear generate in first. Is this because our partner was unable to give that safe haven that we were looking for ourselves and our thoughts. I know it's quite accusing on one's behalf but hear me out. I think both partners create a safe space for each other's thoughts and emotions where both of them feel safe and valued. Just telling someone you love them isn't enough creating that safe space is what get you through tough times.
Open communication and understanding are basic necessities for stronger roots of your relationship with anybody. I think in wedding vows people should write I will be your safe haven will you be mine is much more appropriate according to me.
But how do we create that safe space, how do we get to that place of understanding?Fear most certainly is not the way to go.
Learn to love fearlessly, fear is the thing that gets in the way. Being vulnerable is scary but it's worth it when you reach that safe haven of yours and that feeling of being scared feels worth the end.
You may feel overwhelmed by certain situations and probably thing your partner might not understand but give them the benefit of the doubt. And if they don't understand or don't wanna listen then they are probably not the person you should be creating that safe space.
Tell them how you feel even when it scares you. Fear can be your biggest enemy if you use it in wrong direction. Use that fear in your favour Because at the end of the day we are all looking for that person who can be our safe haven..
