Monsters are the creations of heroes to exaggerate their deeds…
Jennifer is a 5 year old girl, who lives in the suburbs of California in a countryside cottage. She has been painstakingly raised by her father, Joe alone after she was left at his doorstep on a raging winter night. As a single parent he could not devote much leisure time with her, yet he tried to fulfill every dream and need of his precious daughter. The little girl walked to school herself every morning and returned late in the afternoon, sulken and dirty.
She was often called names and bullied for not having known the care of a mother BUT, she was brave and never let her father know her troubles. Her 6th birthday was nearing and she was more than excited like never before. Her father like each year, asked her what she wanted for her birthday, a week in advance. He had expected her usual reply of “anything dad” but, he was shocked at what he heard, Jennifer asked, “Dad, can I get little monster for my birthday?”
Her father didn't know why she wanted such a present, monsters usually scared kids yet, Jennifer had asked for that strange present. Joe didn't want to disappoint his daughter therefore, he bought her a large plushie monster toy for her birthday. Jennifer loved it and could not be separated from it anywhere she went. She was often seen talking to it when alone and had a huge smile since she got it.
Joe had monthly alternative midnight shifts so he would have to leave Jennifer alone at home at night. Jennifer was always cranky in the months when Joe left for his midnight shifts but this time she did not throw any tantrums instead she convincingly tolf Joe, “Dad, I have my monster friend, I'll be safe and happy.” After Joe left, Jennifer climbed into bed and slept with her hand holding onto her monster plushie under her bed.
That night, someone sneaked into the cottage. Joe returned home early to check on Joe as there was news about a runaway robber who targeted houses with kids alone at night. He found Jennifer sitting on the doorstep with her plushie, a little away from her, lay a man covered in blood. Joe rushed to Jennifer and inquired about the man on which Jennifer replied happily,
“Dad, my monster saved me…
