You might have heard a quote saying, “Jagat bhari amhi Kolhapuri”. It really mean that, the people in Kolhapur are filled with love and humanity. So here's a blog to show you a small glimpse of my Kolhapur.
Kolhapur is the city based on the banks of river Panchaganga in state of Maharashtra. It is one of the cities known for its ancient culture, History, food and yeah!! people. And now, it holds the title to have India's second tallest flag. Its the sacred land of goddess Mahalakshmi. The temple is located in Karveer area with great significance. Shri Mahalakshmi is consort of Shri Vishnu and also it is believed that they both reside in this area. People across the country come to see the beautiful temple with great history and architecture.
The second important place in Kolhapur is New Palace. Here resides the descendants of Lokraja Shahuji Maharaj. Half part of palace is a museum giving the idea about their history with beautiful interior. The palace has various picturesque places. The deer's, peacock's and many animals and birds will give you the feel of #nature_love.
Rankala lake is one of the tourist attractions in the city. If you are foodie and love to eat street food or fast food then you will definitely enjoy the ride to Rankala lake. You can have fun on boat rides, Horse rides and lot more stuff which will kill your boredom.
Temlabai mandir on Temblai hills is one of the religious places in Kolhapur. Every year, in the month of Shravan, a celebration known as “Trayamboli Yatra” is held here. This is the only month in which, most of the people who loves non-veg stops eating. Most of the youngsters prefer this place for photoshoot as it has greenery all over the place.
Panhala Fort is one of the historical place located in outskirts of Kolhapur city. It is well maintained and have lot of places to view. It is located on high altitude and so offers some breathtaking views. The sunset point will make you click hundreds of pictures.
If you love to shop and eat then you have plethora of options. The city is very famous for Kolhapuri chappal, Kolhapuri gud (jaggery), Kolhapuri saaj (necklace). The nonveg lovers will find food here as so spicy that will make you lick your fingers. It is famous for Kolhapuri “Tambda rassa” and “Pandhra rassa”. These both dishes comes under non veg category. If you are vegetarian and foody, then also you have many options to taste the spicy, mouth watering food of Kolhapur.
There are lot of things one can do here, I have mentioned only some of them. The beauty of city cannot be described by words in paragraphs. So you must have a feel by visiting this city with serene beauty.
