Beast is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film [3] written and directed by Nelson and produced by Sun Pictures. Movie stars Vijay and Pooja Hegde lead ensemble casts including Selvaraghavan, Shine Tomchacco, Yogibab, Redin King Three, VTV Ganesh, Shajchen, Apparnadas, Satish Kumar, Lilliput and Uncle Agit Bical. It follows the crusade of exRAW agents to save those held hostage by terrorists in the mall. The production rights for the Vijay's 65th starring film (tentative name: Talapacy 65) were acquired by Sun Pictures in early January 2020, and the film will be written and directed by AR Murgados. However, the producer banished Murgados from the film in October 2020 after Murgados refused to reduce the amount. Nelson was later hired to write a new script for the movie. With the official announcement in December 2020, the film began filming in April 2021 and ended in December. Filming took place in different parts of Chennai, including a specially designed set resembling a shopping center where most of the film was filmed, and sporadic plans took place in Delhi and Georgia. The music was composed by Aniluda, the camera by Manoi Paramahamsa, the editing by R. Nimal, and the production design by D. R.K. Kiran. The Beast was released in theaters on April 13, 2022. The film has received various reviews from critics, praising the cast's performance, action sequences, cinematography, production design, music, background scores, Nelson's direction, pace, predictability, and uneven script. Criticized Veera Raghavan, an Indian RAW agent, is tasked with capturing the terrorist Umar Farooq in Kashmir. If he succeeds, the missile he launches kills a child he personally knew, with the aim of preventing Farouk from escaping. This event hurt Veera leaving RAW. Eleven months later, Veera is still suffering from the aftermath of the child's death and suffering from PTSD. He met Preethi at her wedding and persuaded her to join her security agency Dommic & Soldiers, led by Dominic Irudhayaraj. Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Government receives information about a major terrorist attack planned in Chennai. Together with Preethi and Irudhayaraj, Veera visits her agency's latest client, the East Coast Mall, where he observes suspicious activity at the mall and speculates that someone else has hijacked it. A terrorist dressed as Santa Claus hijacks the mall. Veera, Preethi, and a few others are hiding unscathed in an unopened restaurant. The government, led by former Veera employee Altaf Hussain, is trying to negotiate with terrorists requesting the release of Farooq. Althaf managed to contact him when he learned that Veera was also trapped in the mall. Althaf tries to convince Veera to help them. Veera, who was initially hesitant, was convinced when he realized that the terrorists were here for Farooq. He kills one of the terrorists, captures another creature, and takes him to their hideout. He can manage to infiltrate the terrorists and eliminate some of them. The interior minister, who has an alliance with terrorists, tricks them into showing the execution of his wife and daughter Aparna, also in the mall, on television. The government agrees to abandon Farooq and release it. Veera retaliates and kidnaps Aparna and her mother, pretending to be a Bangladeshi fighter to confuse terrorists. If Farooq is released, he threatens to kill her. Terrorist leader Umar Saif senses his imminent defeat and appears to give up, simply blending into the crowd as a hostage. Saif soon learned of Vera and forced him and his helpers to give up and catch them all. With the help of Aparna, Vera escapes and executes the sif and terrorists, making sure the hostages are safe. The Interior Minister was arrested for his ties to terrorists. Meanwhile, Farooq was released in all negotiations. A month later, Veera found and captured him in PoK, survived a long aerial search against the Pakistani Air Force, and managed to bring him back to India for arrest. In the middle of the credits, Veera, Preethi, and his rest of the crew celebrate their antiques in Gore.
