I Am Not Iron Man

"Come on, I need to sit and work on my project, there isn't any time left for my go live tonight!", came a voice from the room on the first floor.

“No way. Are you going to starve yourself again like you did last night ?! If I don't see you down here in 30 seconds, then I'll show you . . . ", came a louder and deeper voice from the dining area.

Vihaan Sawhney, a 24 year old software engineer, is almost ready for the go-live of his hard earned project. He has not been to even a nearby grocery shop in past 21 days. Is this normal behaviour for an engineer ? Well, I guess so. Being a north Indian, his mother, Saroj Sawhney, is very supportive in his freelancing work, but she doesn't like it when her son takes his health lightly. Pure Indian Mother, you know.

Vihaan is at the Dining table, where he finds out that his mother has prepared his all time favourite Chhole Bhatoorey for him.

“This is mouth watering Maa!”, he exclaimed while licking his fingertips. The plate looked like as if an animal had been hungry since past 10 days.

“Beta, I understand it's your go-live tonight, and I know that you have put in the hard work of day and night in this project. I just wish you get a good night's sleep after this is finished. You look so weak today. Your cheek bones have started looking like those fashion models.”, said Mrs. Sawhney, who knew how to put forth her concern in points that no one could have imagined ever.

Vihaan looked at her like someone had asked him for his Google Pay pin. They both shared a good laugh together.

“It's now or never…”

“Deep breaths in, deep breaths out…”

“Phewww…”

“You can do this sh#t…”

This is all that Vihaan said to himself. He is nervous. It's evening already. Yes, he talks to himself. This is one of the trait of intelligent people. But, wait, isn't this also a trait of those who are insane?!

He went out to see the sunset, as he thought that sunsets are beautiful. They are so calm. Patient. Always moving. And so powerful.

The most relaxing point

How will the project go-live end up? Will this be a turning point for Vihaan?

We'll find more about the Sawhney's in the next blog.
