The Thirumoorthy Temple is located next to the Thirumoorthy dam at the base of the Thirumoorthy or Thirumoorthi hills. The Western Ghats' Anamalai hill range is known for its picturesque beauty, which features the Panchalingam Falls' cascading water into the Thirumoorthy reservoir. By the side of the Sri Amanalingeswarar temple, a perennial stream runs. The name of the presiding god is Amanalingeswara.

History:

Atri Maharishi and his wife Anusuya devi are said to have resided here a couple thousand years ago. Before the wives of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, Sage Narada frequently extolled Anusuya's "pativratyam" (Devotion to husband), making them envious of her. She should have her pativratyam lessened, they asked their spouses. When Atri wasn't at home, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva invited Anusuya to their home and requested that she serve them food. When she accepted, they told her that if she served them without wearing clothes, they would accept her alms. Anusuya encounters a problem. She will have a lower pativratyam if she enters the room in an undressed state in front of other guys.If she declines, the visitors would feel disrespected, and they will be able to strip Atri of all her power. Anusuya believed that the three visitors who sought such an odd courtesy were not ordinary people since they were attempting to put her in a precarious position. Anasuya prayed to her husband in her head and claimed that because she is not influenced by lust, she has no anxiety about serving them without clothing. As a result of the guests' "Bhavati Bhiksham Dehi" (Oh Mother! Give us something to eat) and alluded to her as a mother. She made the decision to treat them like her children and provide for their needs. By the time she arrived to serve food, the three gods had grown into small children due to her magnificence and her way of thinking, and her breasts had begun to produce milk. She then breastfed them and placed them in a crib to go asleep. After hearing the tale from Anusuya, Atri returned and praised the three gods dozing in the cradle. They awoke in their original shape, complimented Anusuya's pativratyam, and bestowed a blessing upon her. The three were the manifestations of Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma as the sages Durvasa, Dattatreya, and moon deity Chandra. Anasuya asked that they be born as her children. Additionally, the Thiru Moorthi's blessed the couple after witnessing the devotional Anusuya devi's power; as a result, the location is known as Thiru Moorthi Hills. It includes an ancient temple in a lovely setting, several unique statues, and a large front hall.

When Jainism was at its height in Tamil Nadu, it is also thought that Samanar, or Jain priests, resided in the hills. The enormous rock known as Thirumoorthy has a statue of a Jain priest on it. It is a common misconception that this boulder came tumbling down from the hills during a flood several millennia ago. This is corroborated by the fact that sculptures are inverted rock carvings.

Climate:

The temperature ranges from comfortably cool to moderate. September through December are the ideal months to visit.

The temperature ranges from 20 to 25 °C in the winter and between 25 and 30 °C in the summer.
The annual precipitation is 1550 mm.

The Universal Peace Foundation, an international non-profit organisation that practises Kundalini yoga and is also located in Thirumoorthy Hills, has its headquarters there. The foundation is led by enlightened Yogic Guru "Guru Mahan Paranjothiar," and has as its fundamental goal the emergence of Universal Peace through Individual Peace.

Entertainment:

About three kilometres over the hills, there is a waterfall named Panjalinga Falls. Due to the favourable environment and beautiful scenery, Thirumoorthy Hill is the primary filming location in the Coimbatore District for most Malayalam and Tamil films. The dam also has a garden, a swimming pool, and boating amenities.
