Hi, today we will get to know the important rule of offside in football

Firstly let get to know what is an offside rule in football

Defination: When the striker in the opponent's half receives the ball from the player of his own team then the striker should stand or be behind the two players of the opponent's team while running when striker's player throughing the ball towards him in the positive side. Otherwise the player will be given offside by the line man. There will be offside only if the striker tries to touch the ball or shows movement towards the ball that means the striker should be in play.

There are two assistant referis called line man on either half side of the ground for each half. When the player commits offside foul then line man raise the flag in his hand horizontally pointing towards the spot where the offside foul occurs parallel to the spot. When the referi sees that there is offside he blows a long whistle to stop the play and raise his hand vertically facing palm towards the spot which means an indirect free kick is given to the opponent team. Referi's hand stays up till the opponent start the game after whistle.

The player is considered offside when any part of his body except hands (toe, head, shoulders, etc) is nearer to the goal line than second opponent's body part when striker's player last touch to the ball to pass him in the positive side.

Doubt: Here comes an interesting question whether the opponent's goalkeeper plays any role in the offside. We often see that the line man gives offside when player is ahead of last defender of the team. The answer of the question is ‘yes’ goalkeeper is also considered as second player in the offside situation. There must be two players of eleven ahead towards the goal line when the ball is passed to the striker (when striker is nearer to the goal line than ball) to be on side, whether one of two goalkeeper or other player.

Here are some conditions in the offside rule:

  1. There will be no offside in through in till any player of either team touches the ball.
  2. If the striker is far to the goal line than ball then there will be no offside which means the ball is passed should be negative.
  3. There will be offside if the player is  nearer to the goal line than ball and ball is threw negative side when only one player of eleven of opponent's team is nearer to the goal line than striker.
  4. There will be no offside in the corner kick till any player of the two teams touches the ball after corner kick. Which means no offside will be considered in the first pass from the corner arc (when corner is given).

So, this is the information that I have about offside in football.       I hope this will help you to know more about football.
