Yes! It is desperately the sad reality in our society. There exist the notion that fair skinned are better sections in society. This may be one of the popular misconception from the post colonial time onwards, due to the influence of western culture and society. We should adopt their beauty standards.

A girl get rejected by the society because of her skin colour?? Yes, it is the unrealised truth. I had seen several issues in social media regarding this. Being unattractive is considered as a curse. Its time to change these stereotypical concepts. I used to believe that , No one is better than other in terms of gender or colour. What it needed to be matters is our proficiency in hardwork. Besides looks we need to be focused on works.

Our society is spreading misconceptions through fairness ads and movie etc. All they need is fair skinned ladies and gentlemen as their leading actors. Yeah there exist exceptions in some cases but that too were deprived in blame and accuse . Not only our society itself, we too self depreciate ourselves. In most of the times the audience itself were intended to see a fair skinned good looking lady in the screen. Our society made it to believe our self that dark skinned are valueless.

Ofcourse, there exist a perfect or ideal concept in which we needed to be fit into  or else we must be discarded from our society or even from our own family.

Celebrity influences are yet another factor that spreading the misconceptions regarding feminine beauty. And people are trying to follow up their favourite celebs. All the actors that we see on the big screen were just right fair shades. Even now there are only limited actresses with dark skin complexion being casted in major roles. Yes! Its the sad truth that our skin complexion determining our status in economy, job opportunities or even our relationships.

On considering to females , males are not that much subjected to beauty notions. They could be dark and skinny and our patriarchy accepts such beauty standards for men,but why don't for women. It is said that  an ideal women should have fair complexion or may be with a medium complexion. She shoul  definitely had a narrow waist but wider hips and breasts and should have larger eyes, red lips, black long hairs etc.

Does the pigmentation in our body really matters in our life? What we trying to do is to de-tan ourselves and that's the major reason why skin lightening industry still thrives in our country. All we need is to stop judging people based on such beauty standards.
