Hello fellow writers and readers… It's been a really long time since I have posted on this platform. It feels like an era has passed and I have not been on this website. So today let's talk about breaks and why sometimes it is a good thing to take breaks…

In this day and age, all of us are leading a busy life, some are busy with their education, some with their work, and others are just busy living their best life. I think no one will argue with this because we all know if we have to do something other than what is in our usual schedule we have to carve out time and plan to do that activity separately. For example, try planning an outing with all your friends and you will see what I am saying. People are busy doing various kinds of things on weekends as well.

Therefore taking a break once in a while is very important for your physical and mental health. It provides an important interval to feel calm and relaxed. A relaxing break can help you to bring back your mental and physical functions to their respective baselines. Besides this, a relaxing break can reset your mood brings back your positive mood, and also helps in reducing stress.

Social breaks are also important and you should take them as often as you can. These interactions will allow you to share your experiences and you will feel like a part of the group. Just chatting with your friends over a cup of tea or coffee will significantly increase your mood aur bachodi isko pasand nahi he :)

Small breaks during working hours are also very important. During WFH we all have seen that the lines between work-life and your personal life have already blurred significantly. This has caused friction for many individuals and has induced a higher amount of stress in people's life. Therefore taking small breaks during the day can help you maintain high-performance levels throughout the day and also reduce the need for long recovery time when you have finally finished your work at the end of the day. A mini-break helps support your wellbeing and increases your overall productivity.

Following are some tips to ensure that you take sufficient breaks:

  1. Collectively go on a break with your peers or friends. Set a time and stick to it. In my office, we have a policy among our peers that after every team meeting we go on a 15 min break.
  2. Set an alarm on your phone so that it will prompt you to take a break.
  3. Get a fitness watch that has a sitting ideal indicator. This will prompt you to take a break when you are sitting ideal for a long period of time.
  4. Pay attention to any benefits you experience when you take a break, the recollection of that benefit in your mind will motivate you to take breaks in the future.
