Asia Cup 2022 Highlights: Sri Lanka vs. Pakistan

Even though Sri Lanka was 29/3 at one point while attempting to reach their target of 122 runs, Pathum Nissanka's 55* was more than enough to lead Sri Lanka to a five-wicket victory over Pakistan. Bhanuka Rajapaksa's (24) and his skipper Dasun Shanaka's (21) fast strikes also helped Nissanka. With three overs left in the game, Sri Lanka prevailed and became the only unbeaten team in the Super Four round of the 2022 Asia Cup.

Player of the Match for SL vs. PAK was Wanindu Hasaranga

Waninidu Hasaranga and Pathum Nissnaka were both deserving candidates for Player of the Match, but the pundits decided in favour of the former. In his four overs, Hasaranga took three wickets, and two of them—Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali—came in back-to-back deliveries, shattering Pakistan's batting order. In the 17th over, Hasarnaga added 10* off three balls to seal the victory.

At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka chose to bowl first after winning the toss against Pakistani opponent Babar Azama.

Charith Asalanka, the vice captain of Sri Lanka, has finally had his long contract terminated, and Dhananjaya de Silva, an accomplished player, has taken his position. Asitha Fernando has been replaced with Pramod Madushan as the new captain.

Hasan Ali and Usman Qadir have been added to Pakistan's playing 11 in lieu of Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan, respectively. This will be the first match between these two in the competition.

Even Babar Azam, the captain, was unable to hold out for too long against the Sri Lankan bowling onslaught. Having won the toss and chosen to bowl first in the game, Sri Lanka lost Mohammad Rizwan (14) and Fakhar Zaman (13) for Pakistan. Sri Lanka and Pakistan are prepared to play one other in a Super Four encounter on Friday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium before the major final in the Asia Cup 2022.

In the game against Sri Lanka, captain Babar Azam plans to test the depth of his reserves. Pakistan is in in excellent form, having triumphed in their last two matches over their traditional rivals Pakistan and Afghanistan. Asif Ali and Fakhar Zaman are two hitters who will try to help Mohammad Rizwan, who has been in excellent form. Along with Haris Rauf and Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah has been excellent with the ball and will want to keep up the good work.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka pulled off a stunning upset by narrowly defeating India in their most recent Super Four game.
