Some Weird And Most Interesting Facts About Technology

No corner all across the world is left in this machine era where you don’t see any technological thing, unless it’s dark. Today’s people can’t even imagine their lives without technology including you and me.

Despite the fact that its primary aim is to affect nature, we are used to it. Tunnels were dug, monuments were built, fields were plowed even when there were no online or offline words.

But enhancement in technology with the passage of time made them as easy as ‘The sky is blue’. If come out of talks, today I have brought many unbelievable facts about technology. Slide and enjoy.

: - Our cell phones are faster than the computers used in the moon mission.

In 1969, Apollo 11 was launched from earth towards the moon. No need to mention that it was one of the greatest accomplishments in technology. But the staggering fact is that the computers used in Apollo 11 mission were slower than our cell phones in terms of processing. Though it is not about long ago, it certainly illustrates an incredible evolution of computers and technology.

: - A Russian used water to make a computer.

In 1936, a scientist named ‘Vladimir Lukyanov’ built a computer by using water that could resolve partial differential equations. Apparently he did not fill the water direct into the computer there were many interconnected tubes that were filled with water to make the computer work. His computer also called water integrator was primarily designed to tackle the issues of cracking in concrete. Nowadays, it is sheltering in ‘Moscow’s museum’.

: - Google was a mistake.

If the matter is about technology, ignoring google does not make any sense. After all it’s the google that keeps a polite attitude even if we type ‘how to search on google?’ A name that we speak at least once a day was actually a spelling error.  Initially it was not ‘Google’ in fact the actual name that was chosen for the search engine was ‘Googol’. But the original founder of google accidentally wrote google instead of googol.

: - The effect of technology on babies names.

Some parents also exist in this world who choose technical names for their babies, such as – Apple, Mac, Siri etc. Well Alexa tops the list for being the most eligible device name to be the human first name. I am positive, they won't write ‘Central Processing Unit’ in place of their last name one day.

: - Candy crush gains $74 million a day.

A game mostly loved by girls earns a staggering amount of money in a day. The thing to be noticed is that candy crush is included in the list of top 5 most downloaded games on play store, beating subway surfers. Thus its yearly income is $636 million (enough money to live like a king of England or solve the water problem in Africa).

: - You are lucky if your surgeon was a game addict.

Well, addiction of anything is bad but sometimes it has a positive reflection. Those people who have spent most of their childhood in playing games have a good completion rate while performing surgeries. They possibly make 37% less errors as compared to non-gamers.

: - Crappy robots will make us unemployed.

Even if you have got multiple skills and an extraordinary mind to win over those three giant vampires (Physics, chemistry & math), they still would not hire you for sure or you might be the second option if a robot joins the line. In the next 25 years, 47% of jobs will be occupied by robots. It literally reminds us of some crisis that has brutally left millions of people unemployed worldwide.

: - Computer users often forget to blink.

An average person who is not using a computer blinks about 20 times per minute. On the other hand the person who is spending his/her time in front of the computer blinks 66% less (about 7 times per minute) than the normal rate.

: - There are almost no landline telephones in Bangladesh.

In some countries like – Nigeria, Uganda, Bangladesh and Ghana almost no one owns a landline telephone. According to the reports, only 1% of residents in these four countries say that they have a landline phones in their place. While in case of mobile phones, 70% of Bangladeshi, 89% of Nigerian, 65% of Uganda people and 83% of Ghana people keep mobile phones in their pockets.

: - Email is older than the ‘world wide web’ by 2 decades.

Every day, we get plenty of text messages and emails on our cellphones regarding social media information, new job requirements or sometimes 70% off sales.  In our spare time we usually check them and respond. But the curious question is when the first email was sent. Email was invented in 1971 and ‘world wide web’ was first discovered in 1990, which directly makes email older than ‘world wide web’ by two decades.

That's it for this time.  I hope you are having a good day.
