Roshni, a young  girl of 23 was arrested by the police for bank-fraud. There was a huge buzz in the city as there had been seven cases of online fraud and millions had been siphoned off from the accounts. Now the city police was happy that they had finally nabbed a culprit and they were busy with their interrogations to file a charge-sheet. 

One problem that the police were finding was that though they had arrested Roshni with a laptop and other gadgets,there was no direct evidence against her. They had arrested her on suspicion as she was put up in a small hotel,but was continuously making international calls. When they arrested her they found some sophisticated gadgets too,but  they could be important evidence only if the police could establish a direct case of fraud against Roshni. Neither the laptop nor Roshni had given any clue so far.

Roshni kept on pleading that she was innocent. Even in her bail application she pleaded innocence. Her bail petition was to be heard that morning and so as the last resort D.C.P .Ashwini Batra was pressed in for interrogating Roshni. Ashwini was well known for her interrogation expertise. The police department pinned all their hopes in Ashwini to crack evidence  from Roshni. 

When Ashwini entered the cell, she found Roshni sitting in a corner, she was  totally frightened and kept on repeating that she was innocent. Ashwini went up to her, made her feel comfortable and assured her that she would not let any harm being caused to Roshni, if she co- operated in the case and came out with the truth. 

Roshni calmed down, her nervousness cooled down, she drank some water and told that it was a man who had given her some international numbers and had assured her that even if she could get one international client for their finance company then she will get a job in that company. All the gadgets and the laptop also was given by that man, Rasiklal. Infact even the room for her was booked by him.

Now, Ashwini thought, she was breaking the ice. She asked Roshni, if she could give any more details about the man. Roshni thought for some time and said that she knew his phone number and could call him if she got a phone. Ashwini took out her phone and immediately asked Roshni to call him. Roshni too repeatedly tried to call him, but failed as the number was switched off.

Finally when Ashwini took back her phone from Roshni, she said that she would try to trace the man, but if he could not be traced then she would not be able to help Roshni 

Hearing this statement, Roshni broke down and she was in tears, she told that she always hated these over smart people who always fooled her. Roshni was swearing wildly  at Rasik Lal as Ashwini walked out of the cell.

Unfortunately, Ashwini could not present any strong evidence against Roshni and so Roshni was granted the bail against a personal bond. As Roshni was coming out of the jail, Ashwini went there to speak to her once more, but Roshni avoided her and as she walked away she gave an impish smile at Ashwini. It was such a smile that it remained  in Ashwini's memory for long, she just could not get over it. 

At night as Ashwini was going to bed, she took her cellphone and a message startled her. Rupees twenty seven lakh sixty one thousand had been transferred from her account. 

Then she read an anonymous message reading “with love from an innocent girl to a smart woman .”
