Many of us are terribly afraid of death. It is overtime we accept death as a natural necessity like birth. Have you ever thought of the aspects we fear about death? The pain, the endurance or the ambigous afterlife..
Anything such as these problems makes death a fearful matter.Since the very moment human beings get a stable thinking capacity they start living to evade themselves from death. Most of our religious teachings guarantee rebirth or life after death. Maybe that would help us to generate a kind of hope during the times of weaknesses. A hope which gives us strength to live with confidence. To believe that we can correct our mistakes at least in the next life.
I think these things won't help us to overcome the fear of death. People who commit suicide take it as an escape from the present reality of life. They try to flee into a permanent silence. Nobody can harm us after death. Poets like Emily Dickinson and Sylvia Plath embraced death as a helping hand. Those who have lost all brightness in life would quest for death.. They would happily seek death. Some people might desire for the life after death without worries and sufferings. But the others might not even want an afterlife. We think different and aspire different.
I don't believe in rebirth (without disgracing any religion) though I believe in God. I believe in karma which follows us even at the moment of our death. Without following the goodness we can't expect a smooth life in the next life. So I would recommend you to live the moment fully. Not a word uttered in the last second cannot be edited.
When a baby is born we are willing to alter our lives for it, considering that alteration as a necessity. Likewise, death also needs preparation as it is a necessity. Nobody can conquer death, nothing with a beating heart can outshine it. But I don't want you to spoil your life by waiting for death. Don't be afraid to embrace death when it comes for us.
Here is a tip for those who quench for immortality. Live a happy life, spread smile and warmth thereby your existence would turn into an immortal memory. Everybody who remembers your face and life may smile and say, "that person was a precious one, with a precious heart". I would call this moment as the time you reborn.
