That Hollow Feeling Known As Anxiety

Our generation is the worst hit when it comes to having stress, anxiety, or depression. I am not here to state facts about it, I am just here to talk openly about it. Many of us are even scared to admit having them, but the need of the hour is to talk about it!

I am a regular when it comes to having anxiety. Some symptoms I can state of being anxious are a constant headache, overthinking every tiny bit, foggy memory, constant urge to cry, mood swings and it varies with everyone.

Not just situations, but some people too can give you anxiety. I call such people ‘BLACK HOLES’ (take it in any sense you want). Unknowingly and sometimes knowingly, some people take other's mental health for a spin. The constant interference of others in one's life can leave them feeling miserable and hence, bad mental health.

Feeling anxious all the time can lead to depression, panic attacks, and the worst ‘suicidal thoughts". Most of us can relate to all these scenarios. But what takes a lot of courage is to uplift yourself from such a negative space. Counselling is one such miraculous thing that has saved so many lives.

What I personally feel about anxiety is ‘The constant hollow feeling in the stomach, that seems never-ending, a feeling that wants to take me down with it. The heaviness that I feel on my chest, is as if a huge rock is kept on my chest and no one is helping me take it off. The loss of appetite, the feeling of being alone even amidst everyone, the constant need of reassuring myself that everything will be fine, the shoutings and wars in my head. And on top of it ‘the fear of LOSING myself.' Even after all these things, I have to put up a happy face.

The only way I have figured or I can say my ray of hope during such times are my friends. The never-ending phone calls, video call sessions, plans of going out to have kept me going. Looking at my parent's faces give me the courage to not lose hope. The constant nudges with my sibling are what is keeping me lively.

My only word of advice to people who are going through something similar is to just find your ray of hope and hold onto it tightly, remember we will win!
