In India, We are so dependable on Milk. While Veganism is spreading in India, we should know that when we born we drink mother's milk. Milk is our superfood which provides us various digestive enzymes, proteins and minerals and calcium. Milk is integral part of our Indian Population and almost all around the globe. In ancient Ayurvedic Scriptures Milk is mentioned as unique food which alone can nourish your body. But in this modern world how true is this saying? To know the answer I have researched and listed down all the milk available in Indian Market. I have categorized milk in 4 categories.
Category 1- The milk in this category is generally lasts longer or you can say which have longer shelf life. This milk comes in tetra packs and lasts for weeks or months. Personally I think this milk is not good for our health as it is homogenized milk. This is type of commercial milk available in Indian market. Homogenization makes milk looks better, smoother in texture and enhances taste but because of this process cream never separates from milk, this process can cause heart blocks in your system. So I will not suggest you to drink this milk.
Category 2- In this Category, the milk is most popular and generally consumed by most people. In this category milk is generally which is available in Packets. These includes Mixed milk of Cow and buffalo, Slim milk, Toned Milk and full cream milk (depending on fat %), another is Cow milk. Adulteration is main concern of this category Milk, but let me tell you according to research by FSSAI only 10% of milk is unsafe or adulterated and 90% is safe and even 9 popular milk brands got tested by independent research body and reports said that milk was 100% safe for human consumption. Does this mean this Milk is good for your health? that's not necessary as none of this milk contains A1 milk protein as they contain A2 milk protein.
Category 3- This milk is much much better than milk discussed in previous categories. Even the foreign governments has begun to appreciate this milk. Indian government has taken steps to make this milk available to general public. In this category milk is available from cow milk and it has A2 protein which is good for our health and considered best for ourselves. Both camel and goat milk are also considered as A2 type milk.
Category 4- The milk in this category is the best available in Indian Market as it is yielded from animal for consumption not for commercialization. We must note that yielding milk from an animal is not manufacturing process, it is all about how that animal is being treated? how it is being fed and is there any artificial insemination going on? Is the environment for cow is natural? This all things affects the quality of cow milk. And this is where the milk in this category stands out from other milk categories.
