5G is the fifth generation mobile network, the new global wireless standard, after 1G,2G, 3G, and 4G network technologies. 5G concentrates on delivering a much faster speed in Gbps with much lower latency, larger network capacity, increase in availability, and provides a consistent experience to more users.
In 2019, South Korea was the first country to introduce 5G cellular network. 5G comprises of two major components namely the radio access network and the core network.
Unlike 4G, 5G also works on OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) mobile networking principles, which is the technique of modulating digital signals across many varied channels for reducing interference problems.
Currently, 5G is in its starting phase of deployment. All the previous four generations used macrocell towers, as 5G needs a 100 ft tall tower, requiring huge power to transmit covering long and large areas.
In a network, any data can be carried via air with the aid of radio frequencies. 5G carries higher radio frequencies to carry more information faster.
It is a new type of technology that is built to connect everyone virtually and everything together that includes devices, appliances, and things.
5G can lead to business growth in the field of robotics and AI. It delivers many applications and opportunities across various sectors.
5G can be used as an applications for many purposes such as :
The 5G spectrum was recently auctioned in India, in which Reliance Jio won with the top bid of Rs 88,078 crores worth succeeding with Bharti Airtel and thirdly VI (Vodafone Idea), the top three mobile service networks of India.
5G deployment is preventing companies from going out of business. As 5G has lower latency, the call drop drawback can be overcome.
Most industries use 4G based networks, while 30% are 5G enabled. Another concept of 5G is related to safety and network issues, this is due to emf wave radiations that are harmful for our skin.
