Hello friends

Hope all of you are doing well and fine. I am here with another part of my previous blog (benefits and etiquettes of siwaak). Hope it will benefit you all. With no more delay let us go in to the main content.

In the name of Allah the Beneficent the most Merciful.

All praise is due to Allah the Almighty, Lord of the Universe.
May peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, His beloved Messenger.

Benefits of Siwaak or Miswaak :

1. It cleanses the oral cavity.
2. It pleases Allah the Almighty.
3. It angers the devil (Shaitaan)
4. The one who is habituated to miswaak is beloved to Allah the Almighty .
5. At the same time that person is beloved to the Angels.
6. It strengthens the gums.

7. It creates good and fresh odour in mouth.
8. It increases the eye sight.
9. It removes unwanted bile from the body.

10. It removes the sputum (phlegm).

Etiquettes of Siwaak or Miswaak :

  1. While fasting use siwaak in the morning but not in the afternoon as it is belived that the the odour of fasting person will go off.
  2. But in accordance to some weak prophetic narration, it is permissible to use siwaak early or later on while fasting due to the fact that odour during fast is from stomach not merely from mouth.
  3. Siwaak should be of salvodor tree twigs. If not available , scholars recommended using palm leaf stalk or twigs of olive tree or neem tree.
  4. Make sure that the twigs that would be used as siwaak must not be harmful for teeth and gums.
  5. Scholars state that the poisonous twigs , impure things and those which may cause dental illness or bleeding of gums are prohibited from use.
  6. It is impolite to brush the teeth or siwaak in public or in front of people.
  7. When siwaak is not available it is recommended to clean the teeth using finger but anyhow it doesn't count as Sunnah.
  8. Use of flavoured siwaak or tooth paste in the state of fasting is stictly prohibited.

 Attributes of Siwaak :

1. The siwaak must be neither too long nor too short nor thick.
2. The thickess should be of one's little finger.
3. It must neither too wet so that it twists and does not remove the dirt nor too dry so that it ends up hurting the gums and dental cavity.

Thank you for reading… please do like and share.
