In this blog, we are discussing some origins and significance of Durga puja 2022
The dates for the Durga Pooja in 2022
The last day of Navaratri is celebrated as Durga Puja. As a sign of respect and devotion, the idol of Maa Durga is immersed in rivers or any other water bodies during the festival of Shasthi and Dashami.
This year's Durga Puja will take place between 1st October and 5th October.
Mahalaya 2022 will be celebrated on the 14th of October in 2022. It is also an important date for Durga Puja, when people draw eyes on Goddess Durga's idol to invite her to Earth.
Important Dates Of Durga Puja
There are five consecutive days in the Durga Puja celebration, which include "Saptami", "Shasthi", "Ashtami", "Navami" and "Dashami.". Durga Pooja has been a part of Hindu culture for centuries. There is an auspicious Hindu festival called Navratri that honors Goddess Durga. As part of the Hindu festival of Navratri, we welcome the Goddess Durga in her various avatars into our homes. With Ghatasthapana beginning on September 26 and Vijay Dashami and Durga Visarjan ending on October 5, Sharad Navratri 2022 will take place from September 26 to October 5.
The Durga Puja festival takes place in the autumn, usually in September/October. The festival occurs during the first nine days of Ashvin according to the Hindu solar calendar.
Durga puja celebration
Most parts of the country celebrate this festival to remember the goddess' victory over the demon Mahishasura. Religious beliefs hold that the goddess killed Mahishasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. Vijay Dashami was the day she finally killed the demon that began her battle on the seventh day of Navratri, called Maha Saptami. In devotion to Goddess Durga, the power of shakti (energy) has been symbolized since that time.
Puja of Durga: its significance
Hindus revere her as the 'destroyer of evil' because of her ten arms, which carry lethal weapons, and her vehicle, the lion. As the 'Mother Goddess', Durga is also called Bhavani, Amba, Chandika, Gauri, Parvati, and Mahishasuramardini. She is therefore referred to as the 'Protector of the Righteous' by Hindu devotees.
A brief history of Durga Puja
It was the Bengali Zamindars who first organized Durga Puja to welcome and honor the general in 1757. Raja Nabakrishna Deb of Calcutta was the person who initiated it. Following this, elite households organized their own pujas, but many people were excluded from these celebrations. A "sarbojanin" puja that included people from all castes, creeds, and ranks of life had developed during the first century of the 20th century. There were many who considered the goddess to be an icon for the country and its struggle for freedom.
