This blog will be the knowledge carrier about the socialistic insect, "ANT ".Yes ,am sharing some interesting facts about it and let us start!!

Ants are known for its unity and we human are also asked to be union like it.

ANT- invertebrate omnivores comes under formicidae family that are living as the form of colonies and have a housing in structured nest on earth . 

Some ants like carpenter ant have its nest in wood.

FAMILY:

The colonies of ant are lead by queens which have wings and its role is to lay eggs and live as long as for 30 years.

Workers ,the wingless ant that are engaged with foraging of food, protection and caring of queens and have a life span of 1-3years.

Males ,the sterile called drones and have a role of mating process and will live up to few weeks.

The size of ants may be upto 0.08-1 inches which are compared to paper clips.

In terrestrial animal biomass it covers about 15-25%.

Food that are liked by ants are nectar , seeds, fungus , insects and also some reptiles, birds or small mammals.

LIFE CYCLE :

The mating process will be taken through releasing pheromone by the drone and after mating queens will lead to break off their wings using the spurs that present on the body of ant.Then, they started their egg laying process and take care of them.

The eggs have three stages of life cycle like larvae ,pupa and adult .

The larvae are immobile and that are fed with regurgitated liquid food from the crop of ant and this process is known as trophallaxis.

Then they are transferred to pupa stage which undergo three moults and achieve the stage of adult.

PROS FROM ANTS:

Though the ants have unhealthy traits  ,it also have some beneficials to human community like they are used in cuisine, medication , rites etc.. 

It also consider as biological pest control agent in ancient times.Ants improve the aeration of the soil which helps to enhance the quality of soil.Weaver ants are used for biological control in citrus cultivation as well as the head and mandible of army ants used as surgical sutures.

Likewise some other ants like paraponera clavata, Dinoponera and myrmecia  have some medical importance .

The egg and larvae of ants are used as food in some areas.

Specialized ant species:

Ant species called Allomerus decemarticulatus that will build traps using plant fiber .Yellow crazy ant that are capable of forming super colonies. 

Ants are consider as the world's strongest creature carry 20 times greater than their weight.

Also tiny creatures will teach us more and more.
