It is said that a woman is complete when she becomes a Mother. The true meaning of these words is understood only when you become a Mother. I honestly believe Motherhood is the highest form of living. Your very own existence is because of your mother.
Motherhood is not a phase in life but a journey that should be cherished and lived to the fullest. I would like to share my experience of pregnancy in this blog.
It's customary not to share these kind of good news with others until after three months of pregnancy just so not to jinx it. The first three months are very crucial and needs lots of attention. I used to take public transport to go to work but I switched to cabs to avoid any mishaps. One of the common symptoms during first trimester is vomiting, morning sickness and nausea. I had all three and it does takes toll on your health. I was not able to eat anything properly during this phase. Due to hormonal changes all senses were heightened especially the sense of smell. I had developed aversion towards few food items which I normally liked to eat.
The second trimester is by far the best part of pregnancy. All the hormones gets settled by this time. I was feeling lot better and getting all kinds of food cravings. As baby was growing inside, my anxiety was also increasing day by day. Everyday was like a new day with new challenges because there was lot of things running in mind. I was always anxious about how the things will turn out. How much ever positive thinking we do there will still be a part of mind which keeps worrying about negative things.
One good thing that helped me through my pregnancy is prenatal yoga. I stared it from my fourth month pregnancy. I checked with my gynaecologist and she suggested to go ahead with yoga as I didn't have any complications that time. I used to do it almost daily or at least 3-4 times a week during second trimester. I recommend prenatal yoga because of our lifestyle. Compared to our previous generation i.e., our mother and grandmother used to do so much household work even when they were pregnant so that was like exercise for them. But our lifestyle is more immobile and needs good exercise for healthy growth of the baby.
The real challenge starts from third trimester. By now, I could feel baby movements very clearly and oh my god!! the KICKS!! I used to feel like I have a football player inside me. All I could think was about the "D"-day. I continued with my prenatal yoga as much as possible because as the baby grows big its difficult to breath and exercise. The best thing is to do squatting and pelvic bridge which will strengthen the core and helps during delivery.
I carried my baby for a complete 40 weeks and delivered on 31st July 2020. It was a very auspicious day as it was Varamahalakshmi festival and Goddess Lakshmi came into our life in the form of my daughter RIDHI. The moment I held her, I realised that she is worth all the pain and suffering that I went through for nine months.
