Hey, guys this is the continuation of my previous blog, hope you enjoyed it… keep reading

Are we corrupted? (Me at Office)

The peon came with a heaps of file to be signed. I was in a bad mood so I insisted him not to disturb me. I wonder weather I was the greedy or the world was making me to suffocate. Suddenly I was waked from my thoughts, when I saw my peon standing over the door.

“What?” I asked.

Pointing towards a certain file he said “ Sir, this party is paying more if you could sanctioned it in few days”.

I closely examined the file, which rose my anger as I snapped it in his hands and said “Get lost”.

What happened? I hold my grasp and sat in the chair. I felt sorry for what I did as it was not his fault he was a mere space goat in the process of my way of gulping bribes, where he could get just 1% of the whole amount, still he was happy.

Like me, he too was chained by his greed of becoming rich by whichever way it was possible but what was I after?. I was rich, educated, smart and ambitious. I wondered what dragged me in this mash of dirt and greed. I felt a strange emotions running inside my veins.

Am I corrupted, or are they?

Is corruption the way of describing an act of domination, which people holding power and money do to the helpless one's, or it's a way to just aceceralate the process of getting work done in time where, the one who pays more will be in the top priority while thise who cannot will have to wait for years or more.

Or the whole world is educating their younger ones to develop a habit of taking bribe from childhood, like my son, who will not go and buy any grocery stuffs for our kitchen, unless he holds the paper currency in his hands.

Or the whole world, is submerging in the emotion of greed and desire, where everyone is acting blind and deaf to the cries of innocent.

The whole situation made me laugh on my own constructed stairs and status.

Are we corrupted?, Or it is just a word to describe how my fingers could not run the pen to the documents, arising out of my duty, unless my peon said that “this party pays well”. Or, it is just a role I was playing to work for those holding power and money, where I could not see and hear desperation and grief of those innocent.

Those people with no source and power to accelerate the process of giving bribe were about to walk barefoot as their were about to torn out by visiting my office daily and asking me “Sir, Is my work done?”.

I would just snap without giving them a single valance and say “come again, after this week”, where I could see the men and women wearing the same clothes for all their time of visit. Still that would not wake my humanity dying inside me and keep aside my monster of greed living inside me.

The same was the scene from years and the gaze of those helpless were same of my son from today morning, but when my son asked the same question, as if he too was about to jump in this fire pit called “corruption” and ready to play the same role as mine, my heart pounded very fast and each beat rosed a question to my brain that

“Are you corrupted?” Or they are….

Atlast, thinking of the incident that took twenty years ago, I realised that corruption is a cycle of producing a monsters like me, by repeating the same incident again and again until the last trance of God is defeated inside us. I cannot hold the meaning of the word even cannot snap to the thoughts of the day that happened years ago, similar to the helpless men and women sitting outside my cabin. I too sat on that bench for nearly a year and finnally I was dragged towards this game by the same person who once owned my chair in this cabin where I was sitting now and said “Come again, after this week”.
