This city is a major center for the manufacturing of automotive components in India. Thanks to G.D. Naidu, the person who developed India’s first indigenous motor in 1937. It also contributes 75% of the monthly output of wet grinders in India.
They also referred it to as “the pump city” as it supplies nearly 50% of India’s requirements for pumps and motors. It wears another hat as one of the largest exporters of jewelry, with about 3000 jewelry manufacturers as they are renowned for diamond cutting, cast, and machine-made jewelry.
It also has many poultry farms and an important producer of chicken eggs. It has the country’s oldest flour mills. The hospitality industry has seen growth in the 21st century. There are about 750 hospitals in the city.
The Healthcare sector is another pride for this city. It is the largest non-metro city of e-commerce in South India.
The city has a diverse culture of religions. Although Hinduism is a major population in the city, it also has a minority Muslim and Christian population. Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists are also in small numbers.
