DOES DEPRESSION GO AWAY ON ITS OWN?

We all know depression is not a choice. No one wishes to have dark, sleepless nights, grumpy mornings without knowing when it will end. Also, the most challenging part is whether to walk away or to try harder. 

The effect of depression varies from person to person. While for some, it comes and goes, for others, it remains a constant war. The experience with depression is hard to predict. If you are depressed severely, then chances of going will take time based on what solution you have taken, getting professional help, or tackling your own. And we can’t predict the events of it to return.

Thankfully, there are several solutions to get rid of, like getting professional help from a doctor to a therapist. But if left untreated, it becomes incurable. So, getting treatment is most important for depressed individuals, as it becomes a risk with stressful trauma.

Does depression go away on its own?

There is an old saying, “time heals all wounds,” but with depression, its part is groundless. There are several factors, whether depression lasts long or it will get better without treatment.

Some specific depressions last longer than others. Certain causes of depression affect its duration. Suppose if a particular situation causes depression, it may not last long. 

Depression can also cause due to some health conditions. Like postpartum depression that comes after a new mother delivers her child. So, from the advice of your doctor, you can know which professional help you can get. 

The intensity of the depression can also affect whether it will go away on its own. Sensitive depression solves with no professional help. In contrast, severe depression definitely needs formal treatment.

If they diagnose the depression, then you are lucky to subside that with medical treatment. There are varieties of treatments like medications, Psychotherapy, Hospitalization, and Electroconvulsive treatment. They also favor complementary therapies. Herbal remedies, acupuncture, exercise, meditation, massage also help subside depression.

Recently, many NGO organizations try to identify people with depression and talk them out of it through counseling and, if needed, seek professional help. Many welcome this move as it is helping to reduce suicidal attempts.

Knowledge of Depression

The most common form of depression Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) can proceed throughout a person’s lifetime. Symptoms include:

  1. Depressed mood
  2. Loss of interest
  3. Changes in weight or appetite
  4. Sleep issues
  5. Feeling tired
  6. Anger issues
  7. Difficult in deciding, concentration, and thinking

If the symptoms are present for two weeks, then it is advised to seek additional help. 

Reaching out for help can keep the depression from getting worse or affecting your physical health. Taking advice from your doctor about the best treatment is the best option. As, some forms of depression are difficult to solve, getting professional help will ease the severity of anxiety.

Sometimes you need to realize that you are not just a survivor, but a warrior and stronger than anything life throws your way. It makes your storm just pass over, not to stay. So, it is no harm to come out of the circle and spoke out of your problems. It will lead to a solution.
