Movie Plot:
• The film shows the life of Joe from his school days, well into his adulthood as college youth to a married man. It majorly narrates his love story with his college mate which ends in heartbreak and how he moves on to his marriage with another girl who isn't interested in him,.
Story & Direction:
• The stroy by Hariharan Ram. S lacks substance. It is a simple love story that is dragged out for a dramatic effect which is quite similar to films like 'Hridayam', 'Raja Rani' and has a few traces of 'Arjun Reddy' too.
• His screenplay too is not up to the mark. Except for connecting the first scene quite convincingly to the end scene, there is nothing much to boast about the writing in the film. The way the scenes go forward in the narrative are very conveniently written and most of them, especially in the love story at the start don't make proper sense. The depth in the scenes is where the film lacks big time & the latter half too bogs down.
• Director Hariharan Ram. S does an average job with the way he presents the film. The smooth flow needed in his narrative is clearly missing as the conflicts and scenes are too conveniently written.
The dialogues are very ordinary as they add very little value to the film.
Lead Performances
• Rio Raj's performance is kind of a mixed bag. He is too good in a few scenes while he is very ordinary in a few other parts, especially the emotional scenes. He still needs to improve a lot with his body language as the consistency and variations that were needed for his role as Joe are not convincingly portrayed on screen.
• Malayalam girl Malavika Manoj, who makes her debut in Tamil cinema, does a spectacular job as Suchi. She is perfect for the role and seems to be a bright talent.
Bhavya Trikha who plays the wife of the hero is pretty decent in her part. She has got a nice screen presence but her scenes were limited. She shines in the climax.
• Charle leaves a huge mark as the college security.
• Vaishnavi Sundar, Praveena, Radha Dhandapani, Anbu Thasan & M.J.Shriram are good in their small roles.
Jayakumar, E. Kumanan, Aegan, VJ Rakesh, Kevin Felson, VJ Vignesh, Krishneshraja and others are fine.
Detailed Analysis:
6/10
• The first scene and climax of the film connect very beautifully in a heartwarming way and this is the only good thing about the entire film. But, what happens in between makes us wonder why the heartwarming feeling didn't last all along mainly coz of the writing.
• The entire first half revolves around how Joe falls in love with Sujithra. Most of the scenes here do not have proper reasoning. Why does the girl accept his love? Why does he kiss him? And the whole sequence in the railway station lacks clarity on what it wants to tell.
• There are too many convenient scenes too. Both of Joe's partners don't let him talk in serious situations, coz if he does, the conflict will get resolved. Similarly, A man, who becomes an alcoholic in immense grief and even attempts suicide, becomes better just when his mother delivers a monologue.
The friend's characters & the coach's comedy bits are very poorly written
