Actually it's pronunciation is not 'Tamil" it's "Thamizh".

Thamizh is the first language to spoken. It is the Oldest and Longest surviving classical language of the world which is speaking all over the world which is still in use in it's original form. Literacy of Thamizh is 80.3% which is much higher than national average of 74.04%.

Indian Archeologist have discovered a Thamizh Literature called “Agasthiam” a book which is supposed ot be written by Agasthiya maamunivar before some 1500 B.C this has replaced the oldest  literature of Thamizh which was previousl stated to be “Tholkappiam” which was created some where near 500 B.C and it also has been  foun one Oldest Literature of Thamizh is according to some scholars and has been edited in book of tenth and twelfth standard Syllabus.

The most of the words of Thamizh is of their own and no other language can say that the words of Thamizh are copied dependent on other languages.

It is also.a fact that all the Dravidians language have been made from Thamizh language that from Thamizh except that of the Sanskrit and most of the words from Thamizh and Sanskrit has been lending to other languages such as English.

It is hard to digest that the exact time when Thamizh was born in the world is still unknown.

Thamizh is the language which has got more Literature to it and I think that there are more than 30000 Literature in Thamizh. 

Thamizh and Hinduism are the oldest bonded culture which tends to be older than 5000 years. It also has been estimated that Lord Shiva was worshiped before some 5000 years and the researchers have found the proof of that in the places like Afghanistan, and some North Country that states that Thamiz  was practiced there too.

Hebrew the language of the Jews is derived from Thamizh. It was the Asura language of Babylonians.

Between India and Euthiopia existed the ancient principality of Kamarinadu which connected thes  two regions. Ancient Conquered this region and spread the language to Africa.

The Mayans of Maya Civilization of South America spokes a dialect of Thamizh as the Mayans were actually Thamizhs.

The First-Sangam was the Head Quartet in a city named “Then Madurai” it was patronized by a succession of eighty-nine Kings and Survived for a broken period of 4,400 years during which time it approved  an immense collection of poems and literature.

Thamizh language is the 6th highest spoken language in India.

First time in India Thamizh language is selected as Classical language by UNESCO in 2004.
