Travel Makes You More Social - It's Sink or Swim on the Road. Either you get better at making friends, or you end up alone, crying every night on the pillow in the dorm. You've learned to make friends with strangers and feel more comfortable talking to new people. When I first started traveling, I was a bit introverted and uncomfortable talking to people I didn't know. Now I will happily talk to strangers like we have been best friends for many years.

And that's because after a while you just want to talk to people, so you turn to the person next to you in the hostel bar and say "hello". Then you realize it's not that scary and keep doing it until you're natural. 2. Travel makes you talk better - Traveling not only makes you more comfortable talking to strangers, it also makes you better. After talking to people all the time, the same questions become boring. You even start to feel bored. After a while, you don't care where people come from, where they go, how long they've been traveling and yada yada yada. These types of questions tell you nothing about the person. Of course, you'll improve in the conversation, but more importantly, you'll discover how to ask interesting questions - questions that matter and can start a meaningful conversation. 3. Travel makes you more confident - You've been all over the world. You've climbed Mount Everest, scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef, tasted and dine with this French beauty in Paris, hiked in uncharted cities, and conquered your fear of heights. In short, you have done great things. How not to be more confident? How can you not be sure of your abilities? After accomplishing so much, you will feel much more confident in your ability to achieve whatever you set out to do Travel helps you adapt - You've faced missed flights, slow buses, wrong turns, annoying delays, lousy street food and more. After a while, you learn to adapt your plan to changing situations. You are not angry, you are not angry; you just change what you are doing and move on. Life throws curved balls at you and you knock them out of the park. Why? Because you are so great. 5. Traveling makes you more adventurous - When you are confident in your abilities, you can do anything. Years ago in Austin, although I don't like spicy food, I ate the hottest chili in the world and pure bell pepper extract. Why? Because I wanted to! What is the purpose of life if you don't want to get out of your comfort zone? My mouth has been burning for years, but I would do it again. 6. Traveling makes life easier - All those mistakes? They also did something else for you. They make you easier and more comfortable. Why? Because you have faced countless mistakes and learned not to be bothered by them. You're going with the flow now, because if the ride has taught you anything, it all works out in the end and there's no need to stress. 7. Travel makes you sexier - Stress causes aging. Carefree, relaxed days on the road will make you more confident and radiant, and you'll age more slowly. You will look young and sexy. Unless you're George Clooney, who has certainly gotten prettier with age. (I have no proof of this being true, but I like to think I'm sexy, so I'm adding this for myself!) Travel will teach you about the world. You'll learn about the people, history, culture, and mysterious facts about bucket list destinations most people just dream of. You'll gain a better understanding of how the world works and how people behave through all the hikes you take, the people you meet, and the sights you see. You can read all the books you want, but until you see the world, you'll never really "get it".
