Turmeric mainly consists of a compound called ‘Curcumin’. It has been proved that turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and can be a strong antioxidant.

Curcumin has been the most effective way to fight inflammations due to chronic diseases and on the top of that it has no side effects.

The oxidation in our body result in aging and promote various diseases. But we can use turmeric as an antioxidant to fight these.

Turmeric is proven effective to many diseases like heart diseases, brain diseases, Alzheimer disease (neurodegenerative disease) and even cancer! Curcumin intake also helps in fighting depression.

Turmeric can be used for skin to treat irritation, redness, inflammation and even trickiest skin conditions. It helps to reduce the dark spots and redness of blemishes due to its cooling properties.

Usage

  • You can use turmeric in pickles, veggies, smoothies, hot golden milk, as a tea, etc.
  • For skin you can make various face packs like combining it with milk, honey, yogurt to get glowing and younger looking skin.
  • When used with gram flour it can act as a natural scrub or exfoliator.
  • With lemon juice it can be a bleaching agent for your skin and can give a glow to skin by reducing the pigmentation if used on regular basis.
  • When used with milk and honey it moisturizes the skin and gives it a glow.
  • If you apply a facepack of coconut oil and turmeric your skin feels rejuvenated and can really help for dry skin.

Don'ts: Even if Turmeric does wonders to skin and health the dosage should not be more. It should be approx 8-10mg per day. 

If consumed more, it can be a problem for you!

More uses on skin:-

  1. Treats Acne: Turmeric can be used to treat acne and acne scars by lightening them. Due to its antiseptic properties it helps the bacteria from spreading and thus prevents the production of acne.
  2. Banishes dark circles: Turmeric can improve the circulation and thus can proven very useful to treat dark circles. All you need to do is mix some turmeric with curd and lemon juice and apply it under eyes.
  3. Lightens scar marks and acne marks: You can mix turmeric and honey and apply a thick paste on your face and neck. This will help lighten acne scars and nourish your skin too.
  4. Prevents early signs of aging: If you use the above mask it can reduce the early signs of aging and make your skin look more younger and rejuvenated.
  5. Helps with stretch marks: Many people face the problem of stretch marks. Curcumin in turmeric helps to reduce them. You need some olive oil, turmeric and lemon juice. Apply this paste twice a day and your stretch marks will start fading away.

You should always keep in mind that all these things are normal to human body. Using it excessively can be proven harmful to skin and can also result in dry skin.
