Which celebrity diet I must follow ? 

Which diet will make me loose weight fast?

Which diet will make my face glow? 

do I have to do Keto? Intermittent fasting? Carnivore diet? 

These are the common questions that I hear from the community. 

Why fad diets are popular? 

New fad diets endorsed by celebrities and filling your social media feeds makes them hard to ignore. However, most of these diets are not backed by research and may be causing your body more harm than good. From the ketogenic diet to eating gluten or dairy-free, there may be dangers associated with fad diets.

Fad diets are very much popular than the balanced diet reason behind is that fad diets makes you loose weight within a short period of time. The rapid weight loss seen in fad diets are because of water and lean muscle mass not the body fat. As in fad diets you eat fewer calories than it is  required for the body to maintain its metabolism, while doing so your body takes up energy from your lean muscle mass and use it for its daily functions. 

Inorder for the nutrients your eating to do their job and fuel your body appropriately, we need to ensure we're consuming the right amounts. So portion size play a major role in Healthy weight loss. Unlike fad diets balanced diet helps you to loose weight gradually without leaving much damage to the metabolism. Balanced diet plan will have the  required amount of calories and nutrition that is needed for your body in terms of weight , height and physical activity. You would have noticed people following crash diets, gaining weight soon after they stop dieting. This is because the loss of muscle mass may cause your body's metabolism to slow down, making it easier to regain weight once you return to your usual eating pattern. 

Harmful effects of fad diets

  1. They're very restrictive in terms of calories which can lead you to binge eating
  2. They can cause deficiency in specific nutrients like iron, potassium , sodium ,vitamin b12 deficiency. Out of all these sodium and potassium can have serious effects on heart which could be more dangerous.
  3. Crash diets can become extremely dangerous to your organs especially brain, kidney ,liver. Very low calorie restriction and avoidance of certain macro nutrients like carbohydrate and fat can have huge impact on organ disfunction.
  4. Crash diet can put up stress on both mind and body causing emotional illness.

Unfortunately not all the influencers and celebrities imposing crash diets doesn't have background in nutrition.
