Have You Ever Felt Lonely?

The other day, I was sitting alone sipping my coffee, staring at the wall lost in my own thoughts. My thoughts drifted from people to people, then to life, and stumbled upon emotions. And soon, I thought about my emotions and kept wondering about this one emotional response in particular, Solitude. I don't know how but loneliness is somehow terrifying yet beautiful at the same time.

Have you ever felt lonely? Of course, you have. Sometimes its horrid and then again, sometimes its mandatory. Loneliness is not a product of being alone, you know. Loneliness is a commotion of the bored, its a fixation of introspection. It is a suspicion that we bear, when we think we are not enough. Sometimes, it is a clatter in the depths of your mind and sometimes, it is the absence of a clatter, there is just a buzz of a constant quietness.

There is this unwelcome clench residing in the gut, tightening its fingers around your throat, suffocating you and it spurns the invitation to leave. It is as if, its alone too. As if it has nowhere to go, no one to hold onto. It clings on you as tightly as it can, without a sign of farewell. It starts to numb your mind, and then slowly eats your soul.

But why does one only know this feeling of alone? The pain is not an enemy and solitude is just a misinterpreted feeling. It teaches you self reliance of finding the person in you. The person that you always thought could only exist in someone else. It gives you time to understand that you can always rely on yourself. You can do whatever you want to, in whichever way you want to. It gives you the courage you need to stand on your feet. And most importantly, it makes you notice the little things, that hadn't been noticed till then, like the extra flare of the sunset, the tranquility of the night air and how the skies chooses different shades every day. It brings out that exceptional side of you, which you forgot you had.

Humans always have this tendency to want things that they do not possess. They want to be around people, when they are alone and when they are with a crowd, they want to be left alone. Strange things humans are, with their complicated emotions driving them away from their sanity and the other way around. Accept your loneliness, you are your only friend.
