Recently, there was a news that a huge spiral artwork that is geoglyphs covering 1,00,000 square meters Has been discovered in the Thar desert at Bora village, near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

There are so many geoglyphs in world but, for the first time in India or infect, for the first time in the entire in sub- Indian continent a geoglyph has been found .

So, first of all we have to know about geoglyphs. geoglyphs basically, are the large handmade design made on the surface or ground of the land by clearing a vast expense of land or stone then, the creator using elements of landscape to draw such as stone, gravel.

They are generally longer than 4 meters and if we want to see clearly these drawings or motifs and understand their meaning then, we have to see them from the aerial view.

There are two types of geoglyphs: -

1.Positive geoglyphs- These geoglyphs is formed by material being laid on ground.

2. Negative geoglyphs- These geoglyphs is formed by removing material.

A lot of geoglyphs have been found since the launch of airplanes because they are very clearly visible in aerial view, and many geoglyphs has been found in the Amazon rainforest. They are mostly man-made ditches with strange square, hexagon shape or circular.

And the most famous geoglyphs are the NASCA LINES Which are situated in Peru, South America. Basically, these are 800 straight lines and 70 animal motifs Like bird, monkey etc.

The interesting thing is that till date it is not known, why was this line created. Some theories say that It was created to please God so that,  it rains it that desert, or other theories also says that it was made by aliens.

If we talk about geoglyphs that are found in Rajasthan, they are found in 8 sites and had four distinct symbols. These were made up of 20-inch-wide lines of varying length and complexity.

There is symbol which is 2,374 feet long and 650 feet wide, made of a single 7.5-mile spiraling lines. Most important part is that several Hindu memorial stones Are located in the nearby area of the giant geoglyphs.

This spiral artwork is found by a father and son research team from France. They both sported these geoglyphs on Google Earth.
