All 4 nations have their own respective capitals, for England- London, Scotland- Edinburgh, Northern Ireland- Belfast and Wales- Cardiff.

A.D. 43 saw the arrival of Roman invaders, and A.D. 793 saw the arrival of Viking warriors, who were also forebears of people of the United Kingdom. (They were both from continental Europe.)

Britannia is a national personification of United Kingdom originated from Roman Britain. Lion is their national animal. It is recognized as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and contemporary parliamentary democracy.

The UK became a member of the European Union, or EU, in 1973. All of the member nations are in compliance with trade, security, immigration, and environmental legislation. However, several British nationals objected to being required to abide by these restrictions.

UK votes to exit the European Union in 2016. Britain formally exits the European Union in 2020. Globally, many referred to the United Kingdom's leaving as "Brexit," a mashup of the words "Britain" and "exit."

Barbados became the most recent nation to renounce the British monarchy in 2021.
