The coronavirus that has stopped almost everything now has taken down ipl with its spread. With the surge in the infections, the BCCI altogether has now decided to suspend the ipl with immediate effect. The only ray of hope for Indians living at home was the ipl. As the country is now in lockdown, the only source of entertainment and hopefulness was the ipl. According to President of BCCI Sourav Ganguly, if the tournament gets cancelled it would cost them a loss of estimated around 2500 crore(
340,948,928.33 US Dollars).This was a statement given by BCCI after postponement -"The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organising the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind."
The tournament was halfway through when the cases started coming in the different franchises.BCCI was able to complete up the 29 matches of the tournament. Though it was not a major setback to its brand value I believe. Now the tournament has left about with 31 matches of league phase along with playoff matches. With such a tight international schedule it would be difficult for a BCCI to conduct the rest matches. The primary option that left with BCCI that they can target that mini window just before World Cup T20 or after it that is scheduled to be held in October. As the toughest league in the world ipl matches could also work for  International players as practice matches for T20 World Cup thus players could also see it for their advantage purpose.

The window before World Cup:

This could be the ideal time for the rest of the ipl matches considering the availability of players. The first and the foremost benefit is that this window can provide players with the opportunity to rub their shoulders against the best player to make their game better for the World Cup-the ultimate goal.
UAE and India could be the ideal venues rather depending upon the situation of the pandemic in India.
Uncertainty over how the pandemic progresses in India, the ICC could be forced to consider the UAE as the venue for World Cup. So if ipl happens in UAE it would be the ideal preparation of the players for the World Cup matches. The players will become familiar with the conditions, pitch and dimensions of the ground. It will be a great advantage for the cricket Fraternity while it also eases the logistics of moving from bubble to bubble. It could be a relaxing option for players.
On the other hand, if the situation in India becomes in control it would be a no brainer for the people. As World Cup is also scheduled to happen in India.

The workload of players will be a key factor for the BCCI to manage. The challenge that BCCI will be facing is to reschedule the tournament in the little gap between the end of India's England tour and the T20 World Cup. There would be a hefty workload on every player and the teams would not wanting their key players to be injured before the World Cup. Indian players also should be requiring a week of rest after ipl and test matches. The bio bubble frustration and fatigue could also be the reason for the ipl revocation. The England Players that are playing in large quantity in ipl are also scheduled for Bangladesh and Pakistan tour in October.

India could be the available venue for the ipl. Monitoring the covid situation in India closely, experts are predicting that by the end of September the condition should come under control. Under such circumstances, India is a preferred venue over others. Despite the fact, if ipl gets a green signal in UAE, Abu Dhabi won't be accessible as it is booked to have the fifth version of the T10 league from November 14
Factors on which ipl fate depends:
The availability of foreign players will be a major concern for the BCCI especially players from Australia and England as they will be participating in the Ashes series in late November. India themselves are booked to have New Zealand for two Tests and three T20Is between November December. Further, Zimbabwe will be hosting Afghanistan in November.
Thus, if India can defer the Newzealand Series and BCCI manage to defer England-Australia Ashes this window then looks quite realistic to have ipl.
