My dear fellas..! This day (10-09-2021) is celebrated as Ganesh Chaturthi or different other names in different locations in our country… isn't it cool?? To gather around for some good stuff with people…
Ok. Let me do some hypnotism… go back 10 years… early 90's kids, you will have the best memories to bring back the best events that happened… mid-'90s, you too(including myself) had the best time of our childhood days… what's fun without functions in our home… and in those fun, we all grew up… catching the train or bus to go back to our native… though most stay in Chennai or at your cities where you currently live… to the people who know me… I'm an atheist but who enjoys the festive of get together with people irrespective of religious functions…
As I said… we are ten years back… getting ready for the next day function, and the joy of having fun on the next day keeps us awake all night… maybe that's when we started to be insomniac… and here are the good things we all expect back then… GOVERNMENT HOLIDAYS of that year… and all those holidays starts with Ganesh Chaturthi… proceeding from this event… each big festivals will pass in pouring ample of holidays for Diwali. And will continue with Half-yearly holidays, Pongal holidays in January…
Though we pray or not… it was our first duty to buy necessary items for puja… carrying an empty bag into the market and returning with the bag full… and mostly we struggle to carry it…
A businessman… who suddenly makes an effort to make use of this event… starts selling new puja items in front of his shops…
Roadside vendor… who installs an umbrella, under which she puts a carpet and tiny chair for her… and starts yelling at us… all she sells would be veggies or any auspicious items… and she can be seen in the market only on these occasions… likely… we remember her only when these functions come… and we search for her face…
And we do charge our parents… not in money… but with chocolates or ice creams… carrying a bunch of bags should cost something for us, right?? Ice cream would have been a salary back then…
Having good looking girls in traditional wear… though we look in jeans and t-shirts.. The same girl in a saree… will be an eye catching moment… 😍😛
Three guys cross the roads making their way into the market… one was an old guy in the early '70s... Holding his grandchild's shoulders and pushing him to cross the road… the little kiddo was struggling in the middle.. because he was dragged in front by his father… maybe this father guy was also dragged like this forcibly by his dad… instead of leaving him to cross the road alone…
A middle-aged man who didn't have his shot 🍾 last night reasoning the next day would be an auspicious one… and then he struggles to hold still of the Ganesh statue… Kai nadukkam dan… If suddenly he drops the statue… just imagine how his wife would treat him with words… maybe with hands also…
And then… tv shows… the most recent movies or blockbuster hit movies being telecasted on tv channels… Debate shows in the morning… and the movies with never-ending AD which spoils the rhythm of the movie… and all these make the simple south Indian festive day… Happy holiday…
