It is flexible in all directions. At the tip of the trunk are the nostrils through which the elephant breathes, and tiny, highly sensitive fingertips.[1] The trunk can lift anything from a small stick to a large tree. They usually help in picking up food and drinking water. The elephant repels attacks from hostile animals with its trunk.
