Often seeds are not produced.  Easily propagated by stem cuttings.  Rhododendron rosa-sinensis has more than a full set of chromosomes, like most other species.  A genetic trait called polymorphism is common in many plant species.  A side effect of the polymorphism nature is that the outward characteristics of the offspring allow for a possible random expression of all (or any) of the characteristics of all generations that have gone before, the parent, or indeed any ancestor in a state that differs from that.  With this characteristic, H. rosa-sinensis created new named varieties, resulting in many new seedlings and often exhibiting bright individual flowers and judging contests held, passed hobby and recross [clarify] varieties is popular.  To add genetic opportunities, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis has successfully produced cold-hardy hybrids (see Cold, Hardy Hibiscus cultivars), cold-resistant Hibiscus moscheutos and many other North American Hibiscus cultivars.  A plant is a hybrid of species.Often the offspring of these crosses is sterile, but some are even more dynamic and fertile, with an almost unlimited chance of increasing the varietal Rosa-sinensis varietals.  It also attracts the training of these tropical plants all over the world, including the distances in the cold regions.The flowers of this plant are used for hair beauty in many ways.

In Jamaica, this flower is also used to dissolve the fetus in the stomach.It is known by names like Sabbath plant, Japam, Sembaratha.  It is known as `Sembaratha' due to its bright colored flowers.[2]  In Ayurveda it is also known as Japa Pushpa, Rudra Pushpa, Rakta Karphasa.
