If so , have you all noticed those tiny four colored dots on the bottom of each page of the newspaper , yeah , no ? So , what are they ? What do they mean ? Let's find out the reason and explanation behind that 4 dots .
Everyday in our life we see news , hear them happening somewhere around the world . We get to know about various information about anything through these newspapers . For some people , reading newspapers is the important unavoidable routine in their daily lives , isn't it ? Some start their day getting the headlines of the latest news . It is not for knowing things but also keeps us updated and educated to run along with this competitive world .
So what are these 4 colored dots ?
We know that the basic three colors are red, yellow and blue . But the printers also have a similar pattern like this except it includes black . These four dots are CMYK color model or process color used in color printing .
These CMYK models has the duty of masking colors on lighter or white backgrounds . By adding the appropriate ratios of these four colors could result in any color . CMYK printing allows the lots of tiny dots of each primary would form a solid color in the process of halftoning . To print an image , the color plates are aligned in a same spot while printing . This makes sure the quality of the full - colored image printed on the newspaper . If you guys find any blurry or unclear pictures , it's because of these color plates were not in the same line and it was overlapped .
These dots are also referred as registration marks , as they help to check whether each and every page of a newspaper is aligned and printed correctly . Nowadays , newspapers are printed in large numbers in a single day , so it is not possible to check every newspaper for its perfectness , so the printers use these dots , if these dots are not aligned properly , then it's understood that there is some mistake in that particular newspaper . Even novels , text books also had these marks in early days , but they were cut off during binding process due to some issues .
