Dhanush's character, Bala Murugan, works as a teacher's assistant at a renowned school operated by Thirupathi (Samuthirakani), who sees education as a business. Once the state government passes a new law requiring private schools to take over government-funded schools, Thirupathi appoints three third-grade assistant teachers from his institute to teach in a government school in a remote village. Bala, one of the teachers, sees it as a challenge to use his instructional techniques to bring about change and produce results. Nonetheless, he must cope with children from the lowest socioeconomic situations because the majority of them support their parents in raising their families. After considerable work, Bala eventually succeeds in convincing both the parents and the kids to go back to school.Plot
