The movie Bakasuran was written, produced, and directed by Mohan G under the name GM Film Corporation. The primary actors in the movie are Selvaraghavan and Natty, while Radha Ravi, K Rajan, PL Thennappan, Devadharshini, and other actors play supporting roles. Sam CS provided the soundtrack for the movie, and Farook J Basha handled the photography.
Former soldier Major Arul Varman (Natty), a well-known Youtuber who explains different crime scenes in his videos, is an ex-serviceman. He learns one day that his college-aged niece killed herself as a result of parental pressure to get married. A video showing her having a sexual encounter with her lover was used to blackmail her, he learns after doing more research. He discovers how the whole scheme is run as he follows the network.
According to reports, the movie, which is based on a real incident, is doing well and receiving positive reviews from viewers. In the movie "Bakasuran," which deals with sexual harassment, Selvaraghavan, who previously wowed viewers from behind the camera as a director, gave an amazing performance. What ties Arul Varman and Bheemarasu together? This is the main focus of Bakasuran.
Nonetheless, the movie wants us to think that all parents genuinely care about their kids. that being open with parents about sexual harassment at work or school won't endanger their aspirations (despite the fact that this is exactly what occurs in the movie). You're only supposed to feel happy as an audience member that the father didn't kill the daughter to protect his honour!
Bakasuran is excruciatingly bitter because it lacks empathy for women's lived realities and places an artificial emphasis on the maanam of women, family, society, and tradition. not to mention the seductive item song! The entire movie has the feel of a crazy king imposing his new order with great violence. The film's politics are crystal evident, even beyond the women's perspective.
The righteous are believers who wear rudraksha necklaces, saffron clothing, and extra vibuthi (holy ash). One pimp admits to wearing kunkumam merely for show and is a dishonest Hindu. There is hypocrisy in the rationalist. The other pimp is a short, colored-haired, sleeveless, sunglass-wearing, smoking woman. All that's left to do is address her as Rita or something! At one point, Bimarasu asserts that his daughter should attend school close to the hamlet because residents of Chennai and Pondicherry live similarly to Westerners. Of course, there is also the Mahabharata angel, but I'm getting tired by this point.
