As people we have always heard about the term ‘Feminism’ right ? Have you ever wondered or tried to find out what it actually means?… No right ? We live in a country that celebrates it's women, that worship it's women but we're the same country who backs out when a woman needs recognition, when a woman needs a helping hand or when a woman is just asking for equality.

‘Equality’ by definition means treating everyone in the universe in the same manner. Be it a boy, be it a girl, be it any other gender, equality says to treat all of them in the same way. Which means, what implies for a boy, implies for a girl and vice versa. Here comes yet another fancy term that is used so much over the years which is ‘feminism’. People usually think it's a woman's word or to put it across in a more blunt yet truthful way, it's a woman's card.

Whenever a woman uses this word, everybody in the audience misjudge her by saying “arey ye toh fir shuru hogyi apna feminism ka topic laake”. Why is it always about women getting associated with this word? Why can't a man associate himself with feminism is a whole new debate.

Feminism in literal terms mean treating women the same way as you treat a man. A ‘feminist’ be it a man or be it a woman is not asking you to make one gender superior and the other one inferior. All a feminist is asking for is acceptance and liberty to say, do or express whatever she wants the same way as is given to the other gender.

We talk about modernization, we talk about development and the society changing but according to me the change we want will not come until and unless, there is equality in acceptance, equality in tolerance, equality in opinion, equality in opportunity, equality in general. As a woman, I want the liberty and acceptability to speak whatever I want, however I want to the audience. I am allowed to raise my questions, I am allowed to raise my opinions without people commento on me or hundreds of eyeballs on me.

Whenever a woman says something or expresses what she feels, she is perceived to be outspoken or too bold or sometimes even characterless. Why? Because of the sole reason that she's raising above her voice.

Till when are we going to stuck through in this turmoil and in the complexities. It's time to get above all this and break free the barriers that stopping us as individuals to grow and to develop. We are the same, we are all allowed to be the same and it's high time as society we start seeing ourselves as the same.
