Burning The Bridges Of The Past

Welcome to the month of December, the final level of the year. A lot has happened this year and a lot has changed or changed for the good of all I believe. You can pat yourself on the back stating that you have come a really long way. Maybe not long enough, but still it is a long way altogether. You are not the same person you were a year ago or even at the beginning of the year or the beginning of the decade. As you grow older you have also matured and you tend to let go of a lot of things. Yes, we have got to forget the past and move on from it but never forget what it taught us. Even if you had made mistakes, all those are learnings and stepping stones toward what you want to achieve.

But sometimes it is hard to let go of the past because it was good and it was familiar and if you hold onto it, you wouldn't grow. It took a pandemic to shred out many layers of illusion which had disappointing outcomes. I was holding onto a lot of things because it felt nice and I liked it at the time it felt good. But then, every event and moment in life has an expiry date as it isn't meant to stay longer but we make it stay longer and it goes stale affecting us. It is like holding onto a crush or a lover, because they made you feel good but then they aren't meant to stay longer and now meant for you in the long run.

Along with finding out what we want, we also find out what we don't want. So you have got to break those chains and burn the bridges of the past. With sheer confidence, I can say that I have moved on and have escaped that loop of past and familiarity.

You are meant for greater things; you can make it even bigger and better than before. All the things you liked when you are twenty won't be the same when you are twenty-five. All you have got to do is have something to look forward to and prepare for it as you walk every step toward it. I have been trying to do that since the pandemic began and I believe it is getting better. And also enjoy every moment of it because you deserve it.
