Age Is Just A Number?

Hey folks!

Been a while since I posted something. Well, I have been thinking about what I should be writing and I am not getting an idea of the same and didn't want to write anything so randomly. Or something has to hit so hard that I write. This isn't something hard-hitting I am about to write so here goes.

They say age is just a number and it shouldn't stop us from doing what we set out to do. This isn't something about doing your age or acting your age but looking your age. And we don't know how it is. Because nobody looks their age these days. Or we aren't sure of how a certain age looks. It might seem rude to ask people their age but it is more for awareness so they aren't treated in a different way. Like you don't want a forty-year-old to be called a young boy. There isn't an obsession of being young or looking young and nowadays people wish to be treated their age.

I am having trouble with identifying people and their age. The ones I thought to be younger turned out to be older and the ones I thought to be young enough turned out to be even younger. We never looked that good in her younger days but the present isn't that bad either. Like in my case, no one believes that I am in my mid-20's and I am assumed to be younger. When I am asked my age and after saying it, they gasp saying that I look so young and also asked me to take it as a compliment which I will. All that is fine but when you realise you are actually old is when kids call you Uncle. There has been some kids in our community who call me uncle probably because of my height and I look old enough. When I was in high school, there were kids who called me ‘uncle’ even when I am in uniform because of my height and later corrected it.

When I was in high school, I was assumed to be in college and after completing college, I was assumed to be in school. (I am not bluffing but I did actually have people saying these even if it was less and that was weird, to be honest.)

My class is filled with mostly middle-aged people and I wasn't sure of their ages and I wanted to know. I thought it would be rude to ask but I did manage to ask someone and they, in turn, asked how old did I think they were and I said what I felt and after telling me their age they thanked me for calling them young.

This is one such trouble I am facing because nobody looks their age and I have trouble in addressing them based on their age and shouldn't looked shocked or something. But yes, age is a number after all. People look amazing as long as they take care of themselves and they age gracefully but you can see the ageing process closely if you can.

Well, that's all for now. Thank you so much for reading. I will see you in the next one.
