Artificial Intelligence is the intelligence which deals with the study of machines. These machines work similar to human being, that means what activities of natural intelligence do human display, even machines work similar to that. Hence it is called as artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence was found in 1956 as education purpose. This field was started as a workshop at Dartmouth college, who all were founded the college became the AI (artificial intelligence) Research leaders. The AI leaders and students started a programme described as “astonishing” and in 1960s and 1970s. Researchers concluded that symbolic representation will make success in creating a machine with artificial general intelligence and made this as a goal to their field.
In 1980s AI research bought a commercial success of expert systems, it was a form of AI programme that were similar to analytical skills and knowledge of the human experts. The market of AI was increased over a billion dollars at the same time Japan's 5th generation computer project was released. This inspired the US and British government to increase fund for the academic research. Frequently the techniques reached the main stream use, at that time it was no longer considered as artificial intelligence it was described as the AI effect. The AI became the most commercially successful in 2010 by computing the search engines such as google search, recommendation system such as Netflix, Amazon and many more. AI technology demonstrated some high profile experiments in their applications such as playing games, creating arts proving mathematical theorems AI became the public consciousness by varying degrees by numerous application. Using research and logic symbolic AI used high level, human readable symbols and wrote the algorithms using the search and logic. They successfully attended high at intelligent tasks such as algebra or IQ tests. The symbolic approach failed for many tasks that the humans can solve easily such as learning, recognising and etc.
Philosopher Hubert Dreyfus argued that the human expertise depend on the unconsciousness rather than consciousness in the 1960s. Having a feel for the situation does not accept symbolic knowledge. AI research considered the questions such has can a machines have a mind or consciousness or the mental status similar to human beings as irrelevant, because it did not support the goal for their field. However, the question has become difficult to the philosophy of the mind. Therefore the question also became central at issue in Artificial Intelligence.
