Most of the us are aware of the meaning of the word Homo Sapiens but hardly few of us felt the need to find out why? Which category do you belong to? Ever questioned yourself? Anyways, it's not completely your fault. Our education system and society is only concerned with our materialistic achievements. One must have the best high paying job, the best partner and keep on adding to this list. And let me tell you there is no harm in being ambitious but have you ever thought where to stop? Lets assume you got whatever you desire today. Would that be the end of your desires? If yes, then what? If no, then when?
As the Chinese proverb says β The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now.β So lets introspect before getting caught up in the rat race. Try finding answers to these questions and you would get some clarity.
Ever considered yourself lucky/unlucky?
If you ever been on either side, just contemplate why? Why only you were chosen to be at that particular side and not someone else?
How different is your lifestyle from animals?
Aren't we and the animals around us the same? Like apart from eating, sleeping, walking, mating etc. What else are we doing? From next time when you do a task, just compare it with any animal's activity. Try to focus on the outcome of it. Like you might say we can read and write but animals cannot do that. But like I said, see the outcome. We are doing that for a comfortable lifestyle and a dog is already having one.( you might say there are street dogs as well but then there are people on the streets as well.)
All these analysis about life is not meant for demeaning a particular lifestyle. Let me tell you the most basic difference between animals and us. We have our minds and we can control our actions. We can be awaken by indulging ourselves in spiritual activities. Similarly the importance of education in our life is to be able to read the scriptures and Vedas in order to lead a meaningful life. All this in no means suggests that one should immediately leave for Himalayas. Instead in your daily routine add a spiritual practice, start with reading Bhagwat Gita, Bible, Quran whichever your religion allows you to. Don't try to watch the commentaries. Read it yourself and get the crux.
Leaving you all with these insights. Lets grow together and form a better world.
