He said the Kanyakumari temple was established by the survivors when the Kumari continent was inundated. Cultural historian and writer Sumathi Ramasamy says that the word Kumari, which means virgin, refers to pre-existing civilizations and the purity of language associated with ethnic groups such as the Indian Aryans.

Kumarikanda study and current status

The Madurai branch of the High Court has directed the Central and State Governments to respond in October 2020 in the case seeking an inquiry into Kumarikandam.
