Hi Everyone,

I am here to share some tips and tricks to prevent Dandruff which I think is now the most common topic nowadays so let's get started with some information about the Dandruff

What is Dandruff?

Dandruff is a common condition that causes the skin on the scalp to flake. It isn't contagious or serious. But it can be embarrassing and difficult to treat. Dandruff may have several causes, including:

  • Irritated, oily skin
  • Not shampooing enough
  • A yeast-like fungus (Malassezia) that feeds on oils on the scalps of most adults
  • Dry skin
  • Sensitivity to hair care products.
  • Other skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema.

Almost anyone can have dandruff. Mild dandruff can be treated with a gentle daily shampoo. If that doesn't work, a medicated shampoo may help.

Now there are so many Home remedies from which I am sharing those which worked for me and I have used to reduce my Dandruff issue.

1st Home Remedy
Mustard Oil+ Amla Juice (Indian gooseberry): Take 3 tablespoons of oil and mix it with one amla fruit juice (To make amla juice, take amla and grate or blend it in a mixer. Discard the seed now squeeze out the juice from it).

Coat your fingertips with a very small amount of oil, then gently massage the oil into your scalp. Leave on for up to an hour. Wash out and shampoo your hair as usual. Do it 2 times in a week.

Remember to do a patch test first. Signs of redness, itching, tingling, or discomfort mean you should rinse and stop the use of it.

Properties of Mustard Oil

Mustard Oil
  • Mustard Oil has Antifungal and Antibacterial properties. when we use it on our scalp it prevents scalp conditions like Dandruff and Acne or pimples.
  • The high erucic acid and ALA content of mustard oil are known to eradicate fungus naturally, which is the root cause of dandruff and dry itchy flakes.
  • Mustard seeds are packed with protein, calcium, vitamin A and E, omega-3, and omega-6 fatty acids, all of these helps strengthen your hair from within. Stronger hair means lesser hair fall too!

Properties of Amla

Indian gooseberry (Amla)
  • Amla is rich with Vitamin C increases the antioxidants in your body. Amla purifies the blood and enhances hair's natural color by preventing premature greying of hair.
  • It has antifungal and antiviral properties, which prevent dandruff and other fungal infections and improve scalp health.
  • It contains calcium, which promotes healthier hair. It helps strengthen hair follicles and reduces hair thinning. You can even include amla in your diet.
  • Amla can benefit hair in multiple ways, right from controlling hair fall to reducing dandruff this potent ingredient can be very effective for hair.

2nd Home Remedy

Baking Soda + Shampoo: Take 2 tablespoons of baking soda, shampoo which you use for your regular hair wash, and 5-6 drops of water. Mix all the ingredients and make a paste.

Coat your fingertips with this paste, then gently massage it into your scalp. Leave on for up to 3-4 Minutes. Rinse out with water. Do it 2 times in a week.

Do a patch test first. If redness, itching, tingling means you should rinse and stop the use of it.

Properties of Baking Soda

Baking Soda
  • Baking soda is an exfoliant that can remove excess skin cells and oil on the scalp.
  • Baking soda also possesses antifungal properties that may help fight the fungus responsible for dandruff.

Note: Baking soda has a very high pH level, which can damage the scalp if a person uses it too frequently. Using too much baking soda can strip the hair of its natural oils, which can cause dryness or irritation, so people should use it in moderation.

Both remedies worked for me hope it works for you as well. This is my first blog, If you like it then please show some love and share it with your friends, family, and loved ones. Please share your feedback with me as well:).
Xoxo
