According to scientists and climate experts, heat wave has been the most disastrous situation Europe had to face by far. About 76,000 to 128,000 people have died due to heat wave in 4 decades. Germany has been one country that most heat related deaths have been recorded. Dinosaur conducted in 300 districts of Germany it was found that no protocol was ready in 80% of the districts against the heatwaves.

The adverse climate conditions severely impacted Europe’s economy, London’s Luton Airport suspended flight as extreme heat waves damaged its runway. At the same time, UK is rail system were also shut down because of the heat waves. The heat wave affected cyberspace. Also, Google and Oracle in the UK faced failure of cooling units of cloud divisions.

To cool down daily activities centres will also becoming difficult for Europe. There is a reason why data centres of giant tech companies are usually based in northern countries, but due to the heat waves, these things are now becoming difficult for Europe. It is clear that making Europe’s roads, infrastructures and transportations cooled down due to the heatwave will cost a lot of money. Mostly because the northern European homes are designed to expel the heat, but to retail it. Most of the houses do not have the air conditioning units as most of the year these places receive cold weather and snow rather than heat. So houses are to be mass renovated to survive which will be a costly affair.

This is also affecting Europe’s ecosystem, in fact severely affecting it. In 2022, due to the heat waves 19 countries in Europe had dried rivers and some places also faced sever drought like conditions. With this the livelihood and life was affected but it also made an impact on the biodiversity. One good example would be the endless amount of wildfire in the jungles of Europe.

One factor that always gets neglected is the Arctic region getting warmer, which eventually will affect the entire ecosystem on earth. These warm winds are affecting the weather of the areas around them which results in heat waves, extreme weather and flood like conditions in many nations.
Data from the United Kingdom met agencies Hadley Centre suggests that by 2035 such extreme temperatures will become normal for Europe.

According to the 6th Assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, weather, climate and weather related disasters will continue to increase in the coming year. Europe will have to adopt policies to deal with extreme weather and develop its cities resistant to heat waves and abnormal weather conditions.
 Thankyou 🌼
