Privatization Of Universities In India

Privatization is the process which gives the responsibilities of taking care of the institutions, the great esteemed institutions across India to the private players. Privatization has existed pre independence and the examples of such universities or institutions would be Doon Public School, Mayo College, and many more. But in the recent years the quality of education in both Government and private schools and colleges has deteriorated which has made it necessary for the privatization of the universities. India has the third largest education system in the world accommodating almost 3.74 crore students across 993 universities, more than 4o,ooo colleges and 10,000 schools.

But why should there be privatization of our educational institutions ?

Since independence India has been a socialist country. IIT , AIIMS, AIMS and more esteemed institutions have come to the country which have no foreign interactions exist till date. As we have seen in increase in competition, the quality of education it is important that we attract more foreign investors in out country and with that some foreign universities as well. This will not only bring foreign direct investment but also will bring foreign technology to India. since a long time we have seen the syllabus hasn't changed and if we bring foreign investment in education it can diversify our educational system which can be the second reason for the privatization of educational institutions. Third, we will also be able to solve the corruption problem and would also be able to use the budget that has been set for the educational use under the annual budget. It will also be able to mitigate the situation by improving the quality of education at the same reducing government expenditure and government share in the educational share provided to the young generation.

What are the advantages of this privatization?

first of all, being the help that Indian government will have to educate the 1.3 billion population in a very diversified manner. Second is the learning environment. Private schools have better resources, materials, furniture as well as better quality of teachers and teaching methods which will help India to have a very good and skilled man power in the future. Third is the competitive efficiency, privatization rests heavily on the ground o promote competitive environment and it will also bring transparency and accountability.

And what about the disadvantages?

The disadvantage is that only 7% of the 3 million students in almost 6000+ Engineering institutions have done core steps to handle the Engineering subjects. second is the low quality of education provided to us by the government schools and colleges. It is also a fact that India is on a bring of becoming a super power and that is why India needs a very educated and skilled manpower to make it reach to that goal. India at this point and era needs skilled labors and the government should lay down strict criteria's.

The quality of education provided by the educational institutions should be to the exact of what the law has mentioned. The criteria has to be met no mater whether in rural or urban area. These institution's should provide best quality of education without compromising with the more number of institutions that are being built in India.

Thankyou🌼
