Hello, everyone!
As I was overloaded with wisdom 🤭 my dentist advised me to get rid of my wisdom tooth.
Well, it was not the case. Actually, there was severe pain in my mouth and as the dentist checked, she told me that there is an infection growing as my wisdom tooth is not coming out properly. A dental extraction may be necessary due to deep infection and it is necessary to follow some care to ensure proper healing.
The tooth extraction is a procedure to remove a tooth from the gum and when done, you need to follow some recommendations for a speedy recovery without complications. Here I am to share 6 cares after dental extraction that cannot be missed.
It is necessary to take some precautions that guarantee a correct recovery after the procedure, since, although it is simple, there may be bleeding, pain, or even the development of infection.
Care after tooth extraction
The care after a tooth extraction is essential so that the area can heal properly and recover. This is all you have to take into account.
1.Apply Cold
Putting ice packs(outside) on extraction is very helpful, as it helps in reducing inflammation, prevent bruising, and soothes the pain.
2.Press with gauze
It is likely that after the extraction the dentist will place gauze and make you bite it. This pressure must be maintained for at least 30 minutes, as it stops bleeding and favours the formation of a blood clot.
Pressure should not be maintained with the gauze any longer, otherwise, the clot could stick to the gauze and complicate healing.
3.Eat soft food
It is ideal to eat soft and cold foods that are easy to chew. They can be smoothies, ice cream, pudding, and yoghurt.
4. Don't exercise
Another care after a tooth extraction is not to exercise, as efforts can cause complications. It is advisable not to speak a lot or move your mouth excessively.
It is recommended to rest with your head elevated and in a more sitting position if possible. Lying down cause more pain.
5.Keep your mouth clean
Keeping the mouth clean after a tooth extraction is an essential step so that infections are avoided. The ideal is to brush your teeth with a soft toothbrush and avoiding the area where the intervention was made. Avoid using mouth wash, gargle or spitting forcefully, let the liquid drip out of your mouth.
6.Medication
take all your medication prescribed by the dentist to avoid pain, inflation, and further infection. Even if there is an improvement, you should continue taking the medication for as long as the dentist indicates.
Go visit your identity for sure after 6 days. Just to make sure everything is going fine.
Remember that oral hygiene and regular check-ups with the dentist can prevent many complications. make sure to visit your dentist regularly.
