Well I believe today there are thousands of things that, we as women or even as men are told to follow irrespective of our choices or opinions. These are the things that we are always asked to listen to in the name of religion or we are told that things happen this way only and we just need to blindly trust and follow whatever has been told to us. One such example of this can be gender. Yes, gender is something that is socially constructed and is not natural. It is created by the society to define each one of us. This same society has divided this gender phenomenon into two categories. One is male and another is female. Males are mostly expected to be- 

• Manly – [MYTH] it’s surely a myth because each individual has his own identity and characteristics. So one can never define or restrict a person based on these definitions. 
• Brave- [MYTH] Again a myth as not only a man can be brave but a woman can also possess this trait as there are many classic examples of women taking the things in their hand and changing them for good. 
• Strong-[MYTH] Now, being strong again depends from individual to individual. No one can ever actually define this element as women are psychologically and mentally stronger than men. So there are many aspects that one needs to consider before defining the roles. 
• Superior-[PATRIARCHY] Yes, it’s a fact whether you deny it or accept it but men even today are considered superior to women. And I also agree that the society is changing and developing but still we can’t truly say that yes both women and men play an equal role in our society. 

Now if we talk about women then there is an end number of list of both facts and myths but some of the most vital ones can be –

• Shy- [TRUE] Yes, it’s a fact and I can say this because girls are required to act shy even when they are not because they are expected to be like this otherwise they are considered ill-mannered, childlike, manner less and what not.
• Silent- [TRUE] Girls are mostly expected to only answer things that are asked from them and to not speak a single syllable other than that. Their opinions, viewpoints, mind-set is never heard.
• Adjusting- [TRUE] Again a fact and you know why because in a household, relationship, situation and every aspect or sphere of life a woman is always required to adjust then only things work. 

But I must say irrespective of all these biases men and women both are coming out of it stronger and so gracefully that it is really inspiring watching people being themselves.
